Your ferry pilot of choice
Born and raised in Germany, Guido was always fascinated by flying, mainly because his father was a passionate private pilot. However, back in the 1980s, it was not possible for him to pursue a professional pilot career in Germany, so Guido studied for, and obtained, a master’s degree in mining engineering and started working in a totally different field. He eventually achieved his pilot license in the 1990s, and whilst working as an engineer in South Africa, flew to remote mining operations in a Cessna 210.
After more than 1,500 hours flown as a private pilot and on passing his ATPL, he founded his own aircraft operations company (Aero Logistics) in South Africa, turning his passion into a new career. Flying mainly for the mining industry in smaller aircraft like Beechcraft Baron, C421 and King Air 90, he added type ratings for the Gulfstream G-159 and the Gulfstream II.
In 2008 he relocated to the USA, working as a Part 135 Charter Pilot in the Northeast and added the FAA ATPL and other type ratings to his licenses. In 2013 he took an assignment in the Middle East, flying a private VVIP jet for the owner and his family around the globe for over a year. This built the foundation to become a ferry pilot, and “Capt. Guido” (his nickname globally) has to date completed more than 100 ferry flights around the world with nearly 14 000 hours TT.
Guido also believes in giving back to the aviation community. He is well-known for his measured, concise and informative videos on various aspects of flying, with a following of 91 600 people on YouTube, and 16 000 on Facebook.
Guido operates globally with bases in the USA, Germany and South Africa. He is multilingual, speaking English, German and Spanish fluently with a working knowledge of French. He works as a worldwide ferry pilot for turbine and light jet aircraft, specialising in Textron Aviation products like the King Airs, Caravans and Citations.
Every ferry flight is a unique project. Each flight has to be planned and prepared in great detail. In addition, the aircraft Guido flies are not designed to cross the globe. Even with the best planning, there will be unexpected events such as weather, technical issues, logistical aspects, etc. Keep in mind that larger aircraft cannot be packed in a container, so ferry flying is the only way of transportation between seller and buyer. For both parties, this is a very sensitive part of the deal, and the ferry pilot carries the full responsibility for a multi-million-dollar asset.
In the critical phase between selling and buying an aircraft, Guido offers hassle-free turnkey solutions as a contract pilot (getting your newly-purchased aircraft from A to B) which include:
This is executed by Guido with true German precision and a huge emphasis on safety. You are in contact with your pilot at every stage of the journey via satellite communications, and you know where your aircraft is at any time.
